However, a 64-bit Linux computer can support up to 17 billion GB of RAM. Experts add that most 64-bit Linux computers cap out at 256 TB (AMD64) or 1 TB (Intel).

Motherboard too Determines RAM
IT consultants state that if computer’s RAM capacity is limited based on what the motherboard can support. Users can find RAM capacity on the documents of motherboard. If you have lost the document, check the model number of your motherboard and search its RAM capacity and clock speed at manufacturer’s website.

Experts add that RAM always goes in pairs. If motherboard has four slots and supports 16 GB of RAM, users can use two 8 GB sticks or four 4 GB sticks to attain the maximum capacity.
